Venezuela is the second least peaceful country in South America according to an index released on Tuesday in the United Kingdom. The index puts Iceland as the most peaceful country in the world and Somalia as the least peaceful country in a list of 158 territories.
Based on the Global Peace Index 2012, prepared by the Institute for Economics and peace, Chile is the most peaceful Latin American country, ranking 30; Colombia is the least peaceful, on position 144, Efe cited.
The top five in the list, started to be prepared in 2007, are Iceland, Denmark, New Zealand, Canada and Japan. Again, Western Europe is the most peaceful region in the world, with many of its countries among the first 20.
